the rasa remedy story

The Rasa Remedy has been in the making since 2003, when I began educating myself on the ingredients that were in the beauty products I was using.  I had just had my first son, was breastfeeding, and wanted to make sure that whatever I was putting on my skin could not be potentially harmful to me or my son.  Through my research, I learned that there were very little and very lax regulations when it came to beauty care products, and at that time, there were very few "clean"products that were available. So, I simplified and stopped using almost all beauty, personal care, and skincare products and started washing my face with jojoba oil, wore minimal make-up, and started making my own deodorant and toothpaste.  I also went all-in with a whole food mostly plant-based diet.  My acne-prone skin loved the simplicity and nourishment of my new lifestyle, and I felt at peace knowing that I was using products and eating foods that supported my health, my family, and the environment.

Fast forward 20 years. A lot has changed. Although the "clean" skincare industry is booming, we have also become a culture obsessed with anti-aging.  Looking healthy has become more important than actually being healthy. The pressure to look forever youthful at all costs is real.  Listen, I get it...and I feel it.......AND, I don't support it.  What I support is embracing and celebrating the aging process through radical self acceptance and love, unapologetic self care, and undying gratitude for the privilege to age.

I have spent 30 years living and learning about holistic health, and one of my biggest take-aways is that optimal health and vitality are an inside job.  What you think, feel, eat, breathe...how you move...how you sleep...how you eat...how you connect with others...how you manage stress...how much time you get in nature...how you spend your mornings and evenings ALL affect your overall health, which ultimately affects the health of your skin, and how we age.

This is where The Rasa Remedy comes in!  Ayurveda considers rasa the most important bodily tissue (dhatu), which primarily consists of blood and lymph.  The health of your rasa is greatly impacted by what you eat and how you live. According to Ayurveda, rasa is one of the first tissues to address when investigating an imbalance.  Rasa is also strongly connected to the skin.  So basically, if your rasa is out of balance, the rest of the body is likely out of balance in some way.  This is why I take a customized inside out approach to skincare.  When you nourish your whole self (body, mind, spirit), everything else follows...including your skin!

At The Rasa Remedy, we embrace practices that nourish your whole authentic self.  We celebrate the aging process and promote living in a way that cultivates authenticity, longevity, self-love, and vitality.  If this approach to health and skincare appeals to you, then you're in the right place, and I look forward to connecting!
